How can I meet new people? (my conditions explained)?

My question is, how can I meet new people, guys in particular? I'm definetly not shy, and I have talent and I'm told that I'm hilarious and a great friend. I'm in IB so the kids in my classes now are the same ones that I'm spending the rest of my high school career with. The only extra activity I participate in or take is a half-hour private violin lesson with my teacher. What should I join that exposes me to new things, and new people? And how can I convince my parents that I'm not just "going through a stage" and should "focus more in school than on boys and people"? If it helps, I'm a fourteen year old girl.

You might want to look for some volunteer activity that is organized in groups (e.g., helping young kids with homework, helping old people, Red Cross, etc.). That way, you can do something useful in your spare time and also meet people with a similar interest as you. Joining an orchestra might also be a good idea as soon as your violin playing is good enough.
Reply:don't think about it, that way you will end up making money. What you may be thinking about, are things that are "not good", and is that good?, well that usually ends in spending, or not making money, unless it is in an bad way.
Reply:Just start hanging out with people more. Girls know guys, you'll eventually get introduced to some.

Reply:Focus on school. Most people can school, and have friends. Have some friends, but remember you want to go to college.

Key Club, Red Cross, Make-A-Wish, so on and so forth. also, go out for teams and what not. Track and Field, you meed a lot of people. Cross country too. If you're not good at sports, take orchestra or band at your school.
