What can I do in London to meet more people?

London seems like a tough place to meet new people. After I finish work I just end up going home and not meeting any new people. What can I do, and where can i go to meet new people?

Take an evening class or join a club for something you are interested in - you will then meet people who share your interests which will make it easy to talk to them and develop friendships.


If people at work suggest going out for a drink make sure you go even if you tend to be a bit shy as it will get easier.


Look for opportunities to suggest things to people you know e.g. if someone discusses a film or show or exhibition mention that you are interested in that too and suggest you go together to see it.

they are a drinking club with a running problem, very sociable and open to new members
Reply:Nooo, forget about pages my friend...take a walk or a beer in Camdem town, Portobello, London Bridge, Picadilly, So ho...get into an English academy...Shepard´s Bush by night...is really fun to met people all around the world...there are Russian places, Polish Place, French places, Australian Places...move out to a place more fun...hundred of things you can do but you need time to get more experience, take it easy, have fun first, things will come later...Even Libraries are a good point...imagination, imagination...The Parks now that summer is coming...be nice, insist...some girl at the end will smile...go there...
Reply:At work, join a sports team or activity club, go out to a club, internet, know different from anywhere else....try going to a house or techno night, usually allways an accepting and friendly crowd which are easy to make friend with.

Reply:Supermarkets, museums, swimming baths. I loved being in London and made tons of friends. I grinned a lot at strangers though and am sure a lot of the locals were frightened. Good luck.
