There's people who really love the Five People You Meet in Heaven, and those who hate it and say it's terrible compared to Tuesdays with Morrie; I haven't heard a negative comment about Tuesdays. I've read about half of the first chapter in each and they both seem like they'll be a good read. But I'm a tough critic when I have two opinions on one thing, so there's a good chance I won't like the Five People You Meet in Heaven after reading a book that nearly everyone has enjoyed. Should I read the Five People You Meet in Heaven first, and then Tuesdays with Morrie (Kind of like saving the best for last) so I won't be so critical?
What order did you read the two in, and which one did you like the most?
I just purchased "the Five People You Meet in Heaven" and "Tuesdays with Morrie..."?
I read Tuesdays with Morrie first and I loved it. I barely remember reading The Five People You Meet in Heaven. I would read that first because it will never come close to matching Morrie. It probably isn't bad on its own but Tuesdays with Morrie is much much better.
Reply:Tuesdays with Morrie. Another great book along those lines is "The Lovely Bones". It's about a young girl who is murdered and talks about her life and death to the reader.
Reply:You have to understand they are totally different books. Morrie is a book you will remember the rest of your life because it is so profound. 5 is a book you will remember because it is so very different from Morrie but it has its moments.
Now you have to read the new Albom book "For One More Day" and it will touch you as the other 2 did not.
Just read both books not expecting them to be anything alike and you will enjoy.
Reply:It sounds like you have already made up your mind.
Consider, however, Morrie is about a man prior to death and 5 People is about someone after death. You might want to follow the chronology.
My only other advice, have tissues handy.
Reply:I read 5 people first and then Morrie second. I had to do it for school. Don't even waste your time with 5 people. Tuesdays with Morrie will be one of the best books you will read. If you don't feel emotion afterwards, you need to seek help.
