How difficult is it for you to meet new people where you live?

I live in the US and am curious if it is getting more difficult as well in other countries to meet new people, (friends of the same and opposite sex) .





People seem to just live more and more of a sheltered life , work, watch tv at home, maybe go to a restaurant on the weekend . Their lives are closed really. And even they all drive individual cars so not even public transport to "chat someone up" !





of course their is work or class, but it is even getting more discouraging to meet people there!

How difficult is it for you to meet new people where you live?
I agree it's always hard to meet new people and the worst place to find new friends is in a bar.


Does your local Church hold social meetings, you may meet some lovely sincere people there?
Reply:Unfortunately you're right. Most people are either too mistrustful or self-absorbed to open up. It's hard for me too to accept that as a reality but what can you do? Gradually, we become mistrustful ourselves, being tired to be trampled on by their indifference and cynicism.
Reply:One word. "Trust." I'll strike up a conversation with anyone, but I've learned over the years to "beware." I use to be naive but now I'm overly cautious. I trust no one until proven otherwise. :)
Reply:its the same here in the uk.people seem to be in their own little bubble,and have all they need to live their lives independant of other people.people dont seem to have time to stop and have a chat anymore, which is really sad, and must be so lonely for a lot of people.also i think people are suspicious of strangers, and would just rather not bother getting to know new people.

Its not difficult to make friends, it starts with being civil / nice to some one. Have you ever thought people might be avoiding you..?
