People love my sister but then they meet me, hate her, and love me insted. how do i change that?

people would meet ,my sister and think she is cool and all. but then they meet me and they start to hate her and think im awsome. i dont want my sister to be thought of like that. i want to change it. but i dont kno how to do that without them hating me. any ideas??

People love my sister but then they meet me, hate her, and love me insted. how do i change that?
I really dont get why these people think they have to hate someone just because they like you more. It is possible to be friends with the both of you. These people are very shallow and are not really friends to anyone. If they treat her that way eventually they will treat you that way too when someone more "awesome" comes along. I hope you dont waste your time with these shallow idiots.

Real friends dont treat people like that. Get rid of them and stick with your sister. And when a good friend comes along you and your sister can share that friend.
Reply:you need to talk to these people and tell them how you really feel and think. tell them how you think your sister shouldnt be excluded. mabey ask your friends and your sister if you could all do somthing together s onobody gets left out. if you do that try not to draw too much attention to yourself and give some respect to your sister.mabey when you , your friends and your sister are together mention some ood or cool things your sister has done in the past or mention funny times that will make everyone smile. All you have to do is either tell them how you feel or include her in a lot of thing. I really hope this help. oh and i head your sister ran away, i hope she comes home soon i am praying for her you and your family
Reply:You can't do anything about it. They see her, compare her to you, and make choice based on what they see about who they like better. It's a function of the personality she expresses, not of you. Unless, of course, you are doing something to encourage them to hate her in order to steal away their friendship from her for yourself, in which case that would be pretty effin' twisted, evil and wrong. Only you know the answer.
Reply:when they start lovin you, The only way is to break their heart. Difficult situation, but you have to stand up for your sis and tell them that she is cool and tell them you dont want to be with them. Use some force to get your point across.

Why do so many people like to meet over the computer?

i no people like to meet after speeking on the internet for a while but why do they meet why cant they just be friends?

Why do so many people like to meet over the computer?
because they can say whatever they want without fear of retribution.

Real people are so messy, so RANDOM! Virtual is much better.
Reply:because they can be whoever they want and say whatever they want to the person and their is no physical contact.
Reply:Lord knows...I have never wanted to meet anyone. I'd be dead scared.
Reply:I believe it is because we can be any one we like. we can be goth, a superstar, a model, stick tin etc...

Thats what i believe to be true. we like to sometimes jump out of our own skin and become a person totally different to ourselves. ^.^
Reply:will you go out with me...Lol
Reply:because they don't have to leave the warmth of the house.
Reply:I think the reason is that we all judge firstly on appearance!

As you can't see what someone looks like you have to judge them on their opinions and what they say or ask.

Some people I talk to regularly in chat rooms or via E-mail are a lot younger than me and in 'real' life I would rarely meet and what teenager would want to be seen talking to someone old enough to be their gran! On the net a common interest like fish or dogs soon leads to other subjects and it is surprising how the friendship develops, and then differences in age etc becomes irrelevant. We don't need to meet face to face to be just friends.

I think some people want to meet because they are looking for more than friendship and if it works for them, Good Luck to them.

All I would say is that younger people should remember never go to meet an 'internet' friend alone. You could easily be being misled and put yourself in danger!
Reply:Keyboard Rocker's answer is great!

But I think it is so the person will know the "real you" and you will know the "real them" before you get the wrong first impression...

Though I'm not sure anyone is really themselves on the Internet...
Reply:Because the computer is a shield. We can be anyone we want to be behind the computer. I think it is all about how we use our imagination.

Other then that, I have met like 2 people from the internet. Both turned out to be a really bad expierence for me. Once was a complete douchebag... The other one is like Fly, he just won't leave me alone. That is my dating expierence from the internet. I haven't really went online looking for friends to hang out with in real life. I have enough of those.
Reply:Sometimes there is such a strong connection between the two people that they cant help but meet. That's the way it was when I met my husband. We just clicked so perfectly that the only option was for us to meet. It was beyond just wanting to meet, it was we NEEDED to meet. Once we did, fate took over. We were married 7 months later. Neither of us could've been satisfied with just a friendship.

On line dating where people actually meet?

What is the best on line dating where people actually meet? So far all I have been doing is jacking around via email and I am getting tired of that! lol

Is there a place and/or techniques for actually meeting up?

I work from home and I do not go to bars or clubs so on line seems to be my best option.

Any way to meet people on the internet to play against the on my ps3?
There's not anything like that yet in the actual system. You can meet people in actual games and add them to your buddies. But nothing where you go around and chat and mingle with people. Not until later this year (we all hope). Theres a game type thing coming out, should be soon but they have been delaying it, where you have a virtual house and you can go around talking to people. Its called Playstation HOME keep an eye out for it. It will be a free download off of the playstation store too, so you can get it as soon as it's released.
Reply:The Official Playstation forums are a great place to meet other PS3 gamers: http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstat...
Reply:Im sure there are forums for specific games out there that people would post their usernames. Just go to them. Sign up and add ur name to a list.

Also mines josra33 and I play COD4 mostly.

Is the only way you can meet other LGBT people is to go to clubs?

I'm only 16 right now and I've searched around the net alot.. It feels like the only way to meet other gay people in real life is to go to gay clubs. Internet dating just feels so risky letting people know all of your information and stuff like that. I'm just not really the type of person that drinks alcohol at all and goes to clubs.. I don't know if i'll change when I get into college but my parents are pretty much against me going to any clubs. How do you guys meet up with other LGBT people in your community?

Is the only way you can meet other LGBT people is to go to clubs?
Search for you local PFLAG chapter I guess you can probably go to a youth group meeting. Or see if your school has a gay/straight alliance. Myspace, etc. Tons of other options.
Reply:Or dearie,

Check out any LGBT publication. They are normally bursting with sports teams, support groups, drop-in centers, youth centers, game nights and other non-alcoholic ways to meet other LGBT people.
Reply:Without being out it isn't easy. BTW -- you can go to clubs without drinking. I've never been drunk in my life, but Jonathan and I go dancing a few times a year.

There is facebook and myspace. There are gay community centers in many cities (not just NYC), there are GLSEN groups, gay/straight alliances, and LGBT clubs all over the place. There are also publications like XY (linked below) that may help.

A special note btw -- and I speak with some authority. I raised two boys from their early teens (both straight). Ultimately, this is YOUR body. You can't not to go to clubs because your parents are against them. You must do things that you want and not do things that you do not want. Even if your parents only want what is best for you -- which may be true -- you must live for you. That is going to include going dancing and doing other things that they wouldn't approve of, sooner or later. It is going to include having a b/f and a relationship (which I'm not clear they would be comfortable with either). So recognize that in time you have to be yourself, not an extension of them -- and try to make that transition without ACTUALLY doing something damaging, like drugs, or self destructive like drinking and driving.

Remember, you are GREAT.

Kindest thoughts,

Reyn

believeinyou24@yahoo.com
Reply:I second your question... if that makes sense, but I feel in the same boat as you, I am in college however, and in a small town so there are no gay clubs, just parties and I don't drink either. I did however join the GSA (Gay Strait Alliance) but all they wana do is party and get drunk too... but good luck with that.
Reply:If you get involved in sports I'm sure you'll meet lots of gay people that way. I've met a lot of my gay friends that way. But I guess it depends on what sports you get involved in and what area you live in.
Reply:well if you live in New York their is a LGBT center on 14st.

What do you think about most people you meet socially?

I meet many people that could be potential friends or lovers but there is no spark or connection with 98% of them. I wonder if this is common.

When you meet people at social events, work, groups, meetings, blind dates, etc, what do you think about most of them? I find that most people are just OK, there seems to be something lacking in their personality, and they seem kind of dull. (I am sure they say the same about me)

What percentage of people that you meet do you click with, and how many are you turned off by?

What do you think about most people you meet socially?
i think their mostly boring normal fools
Reply:I am the more reserved protective type so anyone that makes an effort to talk to me is fine by me we may not agree on things but everyone is entitled to their opinion. My philosophy is if you want me I am right here. I know that may seem selfish but I don't like to waste time. about percentage on who I meet well I would say 60% I click with if I talk to them then again I am not very social I only say something if I have something to say, but that is me.
Reply:I am sorry to say this but most of us are like kind of full of pretender and liar. It is hard you can find a genuine one. Whatever it is, this is facts of life that you have to deal day by day until after you find the true one (and I can't guarantee even with that one). it is one in the million! good luck!
Reply:I think it comes down to an issue you have with yourself more then anything. I can be like that too but I feel as though it is merely my ego speaking. What do you want, people to do backflips, recite Dante? It takes a while i think to see the real worth of someone. I feel the same as yourself however, but i always put it down to me being a pompous git
Reply:it's normal. you're not going to fall in love with everyone you meet. Everyone is very different from another, people are unique. You'll find your niche and someone to love. It may be tomorrow or it ma be in months or years from now. be patient and just enjoy the people you care about. If you find good people u can trust, hold on to them
Reply:Well...this is a good question. I've been in college for two years..and I have to say I've only truly had a connection with one person...I think he's the only person I could really call a friend. Even my roommate who I get along great with..I just don't see us being friends after college (sad to say)...Most people I feel just don't get me or whatever..but at least I met one.
Reply:these days I try to think why this person is coming into my life so I can gauge the relationship properly. It really sux to be let down by somoene who you think is a friend. I also ask why people are my friend or why they like me.

How can I meet new people when I'm in my late 20s?

Grad school takes up a huge chunk of time and I'm broke.

Where I can I meet new people when I'm alone all the time? It sucks and I'm getting very lonely. and bored. All I do is study and work out when I'm not studying. (Now I'm on here...LOL with nothing to do.) Also, everyone in church is in couples and all the groups are for older ladies who do crafts, couples groups, or singles in their early 20s.

How can I meet new people when I'm in my late 20s?
How about grad school? Schools are virtual dating mills. I'm sure there are people in your classes that you might want to hang with. If you're done with classes and doing research, there's nothing stopping you from still going to school and taking additional classes. I met my first girlfriend in grad school and I was 28. I'm a guy despite my avatar.
Reply:do you have any girl friends? if so try planning at least one day a week to have a girls night out. even if just two of you. you will be suprised at how many people you can meet just going to the movies.

How do i meet other bi-curious people?

i dont know what i am, (21 yrs.) and i want to find out. how do i meet other people willing to experiment with me?

How do i meet other bi-curious people?
Start going to gay clubs.
Reply:Wow,no offence but we of the glbt really don't walk around with flashing lights.

It is good you are questioning your sexuality but you also want to show digression.I would say earnestly look for glbt centers in your area.

These centers are there for this very reason,at least they can help answer questions about how you feel.

Good luck in your quest for knowledge.
Reply:go to places where they hang out.
Reply:Are you sure you really want to deliberately involve yourself in this type of behaviour?
Reply:check out a gay bar...or talk to some of your friends about it...they might be curious as well. and there is always myspace.

How do i meet other gay people?

Just about everyone of these gay websites center around sex and it seems nearly impossible to meet someone for pure friendship and dating. The club scene is horrible with a bunch of feminine guys(no offense just not my type) and drugs and very clicky and you start to see the same people. I dunno what to do. Im very masculine, good-looking(no model but im not ugly lol), and getting my education. Noone suspects im gay so people dont come up to me in public and i dont know how to tell if someone is checking me out. Its tough being gay sometimes its alittle depressing being in a str8 society that shuns anything outside its norm.

How do i meet other gay people?
yahoo personals or gay.com maybe even craigslist

you can just put pretty much your question above into an ad. lots of people are looking for friendship and dating.
Reply:Try telling people in your community and school system. You'll be suprised how many will come around.
Reply:Look for a church that accepts gays. Our church is awesome and there are more young gays showing up every month. My gf and I are friends with another gay couple and our daughters are BFFs. Yeah, stay away from the clubs and come out at school ONLY if you feel safe doing so. Also, try googling something like " Local Gay Teens". It may have groups or something that meet once in awhile. Good luck sweetie. ; D
Reply:JJ,

If you have an LGBT Community Center in your area contact them and see what LGBT organizations and groups are available.

Many communities are getting to have their annual Pride festivals and parades and volunteers are always needed to assist and its a good way to meet people.

Check interpride.org's 2008 calendar for the pride activities in your area.
Reply:You dont seem to represent the typical gay pretty boy image. Most gay men I have met have very feminine traits so I think it is going to be very difficult.

Are you sure that you are gay - my ex. was bi-curious and attracted to men but had never actually acted on those feelings.
Reply:I found my girl on myspace, but maybe we got lucky. There are other sites like meetup.com that can help you connect with others in your area that are not about the club scene.

If you have a local gay bookstore, they may have a community bulletin board where they have info about local goups like book clubs, kite flying, anything you are interested in etc. that way you can meet cool non-club scene people.

Also, community groups can help. My girlfriend and I are involved in a gay/lesbain community group and we are always doing things like going to concerts and stuff with a big bunch of people, so you can meet people just as friends first.
Reply:yes the club scene can be a bit bad, i lived and worked in it for 15 yrs and got a bit lost. but stay true to your self and let your friends know and people around you and if you think someone likes you or you like someone then ask them out for a coffee or dinner or the flicks! nothing ventured nothing gained! and don't listen to the small minded people of this world!
Reply:i feel the same way as you.. everything in time will come.

How can I meet people my age (15-17) at places like the mall?

I'm bored and I really need to meet more people such as emo scene or punk people.

How can I meet people my age (15-17) at places like the mall?
Go to a venue and see some local bands play... not the safest thing to do, but that's generally where the crowd your describing hangs out.
Reply:Getting into a "scene" with other like minded people takes time. Not to mention a bit of commitment on your part. Looking around will wear you out. The best thing to do would be to stay in one place for a while and let the other person or persons come to you. Believe me, it does work.
Reply:use places like the internet

Where is a good place to get a job to meet people in the film industry?

A job to meet people in the film industry?
I dunno you could try being a film journalist. Or a photographer (paparazzi not recommended). Or work in a fancy hotel where they stay. It depends in what capacity you want to meet them. Do you want a job in the film industry? There should be assistants, receptionists which are working for people in the film industry, so I would classify them as in the film industry.

Reply:hi Dear i don't know how old are you but there is a good advice to you.

if i was you i would be really careful about who you meet over the Internet ,there are all kinds of people out there lots of good people and also there are the bad people like abuser, sex offenders , killers , pimps etc, there are all times written in the news that people who meet over the Internet got hurt or killed or abducted under no circumstances give your address ,phone NR ,credit cart etc over the Internet to someone you don't know, if you really want to know people by that way then before you see them in person check out there profile and criminal record over the Internet under :People

search .com and talk to them ,ask them a lot off Questions write it down and put it on a save place where only you and your mother or other trusty person can find it in case of Emergency

in another word be careful and think this over before you meet someone over the Internet , take care , from one mother to a child

How do I meet people in a new state that I have things in common with?

I have two small children, and I don't work. We moved here for my fiancee's job, and he works like 70 hours. So Im so lonely. Id like to meet people with kids so my kids can have playmates. Its been 4 months, and nothing. Please help, Im so lonely.

How do I meet people in a new state that I have things in common with?
Go for walks. Go to playgrounds, swimming pools. Try to meet other non-working mothers of small children in your neighborhood. You will have much in common.
Reply:People say they 'find' love, as if it were an object hidden by a rock. But love takes many forms, and it is never the same for any man and woman. What people find then is a certain love.

Love, like rain, can nourish from above, drenching couples with a soaking joy. But sometimes, under the angry heat of life, love dries on the surface and must nourish from below, tending to its roots, keeping itself alive.

Lost love is still love. It takes a different form, that's all. You can't see their smile or bring them food or tousle their hair or move them around a dance floor. But when those senses weaken, another heightens. Memory. Memory becomes your partner. You nurture it. You hold it. You dance with it.

How do I meet people on MySpace?

A friend of mine wanted me to try out MySpace, so I did. However, she's my only friend so far, besides my cousin, and I'm wondering how to meet people who have the same interests as me. I tried browsing, but the only criteria it will run my search on is based on things like race, religion, size or age. What about hobbies or something?

How do I find people on there that have the same interests as me, and when I do, do I just send them a message and introduce myself or something?

Sorry!! MySpace virgin!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont mean like on the internet or anything like that. I mean like actually in real life. I like sports but i suck at them, so i doubt i would make any teams where i could meet people. I thought about just adding some of my friends friends on msn and chatting to em, but i dont really want to use my friends. I want to make some new friends(guys or girls) So if you have any ideas they would help, thanks!

How do people meet your gf/bf at a wedding/ there's no time for that?

I find this confusing?

how can people meet their future partners at weddings?

i mean there is so much chaos and lots to do, how can you go and introduce yourself and all

i don't think there is any time for that!

people said at the Wedding Reception but even then there is no time for that!

aren't you always sitting ?

How do people meet your gf/bf at a wedding/ there's no time for that?
your not sitting when you are shaking your groove thing on the dance floor!!!
Reply:No, I guess you have not seen Wedding Crashers? Gosh** There is a lot of time to meet people. When at the same table, while dancing, waiting in line to get a drink, on the way to the bathroom, on the way into the recpetion, in the parking lot. Hello?!?!?! Tons of time.
Reply:no, i met one of my boyfriends at my friends wedding he was a groomsmen and i was the maid of honor and so we got to see each other alot as the wedding got closer, so did we and after the event was done with we dated for about 4 years before we broke up. as for all other guests hooking up there is something in the air at a wedding that makes people fall in love (or is it all that wine??)
Reply:love will always find a way... im a wedding photographer, and theres lots of time, the only people who are busy are teh photographer, the vicar and the brides/grooms parents...

everyone else is having a good time..
Reply:They either had the good fortune to be sat at the same table for the sit-down meal, or they met at the evening reception (party) later.
Reply:my parents met at a wedding nearly 40 yrs ago , i think if you are interseted in somebody , you find the time
Reply:You don't get out often, do you?
Reply:Theres time before the wedding, as you are waiting for the bride and groom to turn up.

Then, there will be loads of hanging about waiting for photos.

Then, there is normally a champagne reception before the sit down meal.

After the formal meal, there is normally plenty of time to mingle - happy hunting! xx
Reply:no I dance @ wedding partys esp with hot chicks i never met! This is VERY common @ party's and love is in the air @ weddings! people realize what they are missing out on (the whole coupling thing). What are you doing but parting, meeting new people and having FUN! what "chaos" goes on @ the party, for the party goers? I think the best place to meet people, is a party and the best party's are weddings! I just don't get your confusion! try to enjoy life and you may meet your true love one day too,
Reply:I didn't meet my fiance at a wedding, but how can there be no time? There's tons of time to relax and mingle at weddings. I don't understand where you're coming from.

You don't have to just sit still at a reception. You dance, you talk to other guests, you mingle, you have a good time!!!

How do you meet new people when you are by yourself?

I am very good at starting conversations and keeping them flowing when I'm with a friend talking to new people but not sooo much when it comes to me and a stranger 1 on 1. This particularly sucks when I'm trying to meet girls.

How can I meet people at college without being awkward?

I'm a 20 year old guy who transferred to a Christian College. I was pretty popular in high school, and I had a lot of friends around me. However, now that I'm in college, it seems like not many people are willing to "be my friend." More importantly, I would like to get to know some girls, but it seems that when I talk to them, they think I'm hitting on them... which is an immediate turn-off. How can effectively meet girls, without hitting on them? Any help would be nice.

How can I meet people at college without being awkward?
Last semester was my first semester and i met alot of people just in classes. I am a very shy girl and dont talk much to people i dont know but i still met some really cool people just in my classes. Their is always the dorms too. email me...
Reply:go to the rec center and stretch next to her. strike up a conversation and ask questions about her. Be interested
Reply:your classes and some other activities with other students should make a good starting point.
Reply:Just start talking to some people and it will come.
Reply:The best way to make friends and have a girl friend is meeting people who love doing the same activities. Now, this doesn't mean, you must go hiking, or put together a dorm sock wash, it means what *you* consider an activity. For example, if you love taking a nice walk at the mall, find people who like to hang out with you doing that. Speaking of hanging out, invite people to your place to listen to music you like, talk about movies you have scene, etc. Form study groups from your classes, and get to know people in a more friendly and supportive environment. If you walk up to a girl you don't know or barely know and start talking to her out of the blue she is going to think you are hitting on her. The best relationships come from a friend of a friend sometimes too. Good luck!
Reply:if they are in the same course as you, perhaps you could ask to work together on a specific project or ask her for some help on an assignment. Something academically based won't look as flirtatious as something like "what's your favourite movie?"

Try to help them out in any way you can, be as nice as possible, and they will see that this is the real you and not an act used to lure women. This does take time (weeks, months) so don't think it is getting you nowhere. Keep going and you'll meet friends in no time.

All the best to you.
Reply:It sounds like your trying to hard which can really put people off as you come across as being too needy.

Just let your personality shine through and friendships should develop naturally.

Are there any clubs or society's that you could join ? I'm sure you would find like minded people there whom you could develop friendships with.

Good luck :-)

A job to meet people in the film industry?

Where is a good place to get a job to meet people in the film industry?

A job to meet people in the film industry?
I dunno you could try being a film journalist. Or a photographer (paparazzi not recommended). Or work in a fancy hotel where they stay. It depends in what capacity you want to meet them. Do you want a job in the film industry? There should be assistants, receptionists which are working for people in the film industry, so I would classify them as in the film industry.

Where do you meet other gay people as friends?

I just want to hang out with other gay people -- not necessarily for dating. Where do you go to meet cool people around your age who are also gay?

Where do you meet other gay people as friends?
Look for a gay center in your community or see if your school has a gay group... You can always try places like gay.com, but not everyone there is just willing to be friends... Honestly I made more gay friends through other friends and from school...
Reply:I met a few gay people my age on the Internet and we met in person and we're just friends. Although, I dated one of them lol. However, we are still friends. Try thegyc.com or something. I met a couple on Facebook and another on MySpace.

Reply:No, it's not too much to ask at all. You need to get away from those married people, they're crazy!
Reply:NO is not any thing big to ask. am also look for singles to chat with thank God i've found one.
Reply:Talk, but don't be irratable, laugh, don't be laughed at and walk, don't be walked on.
Reply:I did not know that married people are not allow to chat or hang out with single people. Is there such a rule?

What you are asking is to find a single to get involve? Work on your smile and hang around in shopping mall at the male department or DIY shop.
Reply:No. It's not. Of course you want to meet single people and hang out. That's good and fine. Go to the places that single people hang out at and you will definitely make friends. To make friends you have to show yourself friendly. Which i am sure that you are doing. In quick time, you will have more friends that you can handle! Good luck!

How can we meet people? (in arlington heights or in general)?

My boyfriend and I just moved to Arlington Heights, IL and neither of us have friends that anywhere close enough to visit. I would really like us to meet some other people, couples would be nice, that we could socialize with. We like video games, movies, drinking, etc but please no bars/clubs 21 and over because im 20 not quite 21 yet, he is 23 though. It gets pretty boring sitting around the apt with no friends!

How can we meet people? (in arlington heights or in general)?
I'd try the "Strictly Platonic" section of your local Craigslist. If you go to www.craigslist.com it'll redirect you to the nearest craigslist community.

I meet literally hundreds of people a week and just want some basic advice. I have a short crew cut, i was thinking of shaving my head? yes/no? Short beard? yes/no? What impress' you when you meet someone?

I have a job where i meet Hundreds of people a week, What makes a good first impression?
a nice smile, good breath, don't shave head.Neat trimmed beard.Be sincere and look people right in the eye.a tasteful joke is also good.
Reply:crew cut, clean shave and a smile. more often than not, people will respond better to you if you have that "clean guy" look. and a smile is a universal language, it carries a lot of weight.
Reply:a smile and when you look people in the eyes.
Reply:On just looks alone...Don't shave your head and keep your face clean shaven, it sounds weird but it usually makes a guy seem more approachable. Usually what makes the greatest impression on me when I meet someone is a friendly personality. It doesn't matter what you look like if you have a dim out look on life and are rude, so stay personable and upbeat.
Reply:completely bald people don't seem very profesional(sorry)
Reply:have a big (not cheesy) smile and make eye contact
Reply:i don't think that it matters much how your look as long as u don't look like a slob. try to dress classy if u can. also be very talkitive.. but don't talk to much. If u are introduced... i would say " Hello! it's very nice to meet u" then maybe start on a topic. if that person is shy, get them comfortable around u! good luk!
Reply:Well, I would not shave the head, unless you know for a fact you look good bald or near bald. I like a man with a nicely trimmed beard or none at all. And a nice fresh smile also catches my attention. Maybe try some whitening products...they are not as dramatic as shown on TV but the Crest system does work. But I am a non-smoker as well.

How Can I Meet People?

I'm kinda shy and work alot, thus no social life.

I used to have a couple of friends I used to hang out and go places with, but they have gone on with their lives and the only time I communicate with them is on myspace [pathetic yes].

But how can I meet people? Besides the people at work [because they don't have the same interests as I do and I don't really know them]

How Can I Meet People?
have confidence. I know for a fact that people love confident people and want to be friends with them. Go out instead of staying in, because that way you can meet more people.Good luck and have fun. :]

From my experience, the best way to meet young people is by going to an arcade. Lots of young people looking to have fun and meet someone while they're at it.
Reply:You should try the movies with your friends! Even ask some of you friends if they know anyone they could bring along. Be creative like go to the mall or go bowling or just hang out in general.
Reply:Well, you can try some sports, or go to a recreational center that has kids your age. Try hanging out at the mall during a Friday night. I know that is where me and all of my friends hung out. Join some kind of club too. If you are religious, go to a youth group. They definitely have kids your age. I hope that helps.
Reply:Do you have girls in your neighborhood or do you met girls in any church activities. Take up some activities that will include girls. Maybe you should talk to your parents and let them know that you would like the opportunity to have some girls for friends as well as some other people your age. Is there a library near you. Younger people go to the library in the evening to use the computer if they don't have one at home or pick up some books.
Reply:well, you can try having a penpal online since obviously you have the computer for it. Try E-Pal, type it in google. I met cool people for penpals who I know will never reach me because I only use certain information. You can also try joining clubs at a nearby teen center.
Reply:homeschool is cool. my cousins are homeschooled too but get to do a lot of meeting people. They join sports groups, the local church youth group and the occassional get togethers of other homeschoolers. If you have a hobby, see if neighbors around you have a similar hobby or interest you you can meet up once in a while. Even if you are not into hobbies or sports, learn one soon!

But hey, you're still young. no need to rush and have a gf.

Good luck and study hard.

Is Foreign language useless when don't even meet the people?

Hello, i've been learning a language since college. after graduation i still study it from time to time.. im forgetting some i haven't seriously studied in some time now but i still have it. And i plan to review it again and learn more vocabs. But i ask myself , if i never meet the people of that country, never see them, never run into them, so what's the point? Like in highschool i studied french, but there is no french people anywhere so if i was still good, i could never use it. the language now is japanese, and i neeeeever meet these people. in fact ESL students meet more japanese than i would ever, cause they are with them in classes,. . so, is there benefits for me to keep studying if i'm never using it with other people, and i'm never going plan on traveling to countries where it is used? Perhaps at least something in my brain would improve? to be smarter in general? idon't know. help

Is Foreign language useless when don't even meet the people?
In addition to learning to talk to native speakers of the language, studying a foreign language can also help you increase your English vocabulary (especially if you study a language like French from which we have borrowed so many words) and improve your English grammar. It also generally makes you more open-minded.

But here's another benefit of foreign language study that hasn't been mentioned: it protects you from Alzheimer's and dementia in old age. That's right! Studies have shown that elderly people who speak more than one language are less likely to develop Alzheimer's. In fact, bilingualism appears to protect the brain from neurological problems resulting in dementia as well. Furthermore, elderly people who continue to learn new things, and especially those who study a foreign language, have a better memory than those who don't. I suppose it's the "use it or lose it" factor. If you keep learning, your brain keeps building neurological connections. If you don't, the old ones fade without being replaced by new ones.

So don't give up your foreign language studies! Try to find a local group such as the Alliance Française where you can speak with native Francophones and others who, like you, are interested in improving their grasp of the language. I'm sure there are native Japanese speakers around your area somewhere, as well! You might even consider exchanging English lessons to Japanese students of ESL in exchange for Japanese lessons. I'm sure there would be plenty who would jump at the chance!
Reply:This is one of the best answers I ever saw and according to what you said I should never worry about Alzheimer and dementia (I'm learning my 5th language now and planing to learn a 6th one too). Report It

Reply:Of course learning a foreign language brings good to you and your mind. I'm french with english as 3rd language, and as you learned french, you'll perfectly understand the following example.

Never wondered what is the consequence that in english you say 'you' and that in french you have 2 words meaning 'you' (tu %26amp; vous). Try to answer it yourself and you'll understand that there's much more beyond learning a foreign language than just communicating with foreign people.

And it helps yourself to have a better understanding of your own language !! If you do some ethymology of english words, you'd be surprised to discover so many things coming from so many different languages.... and there are so many english words that are entering in the french language now ... it's really benefic for me to know english language.
Reply:You never know when you're going to need it. The economy is global, and more and more international companies are sprouting up.
Reply:Any foreign language that you learn opens up a new world before your eyes. Even if you don't travel to the countries or meet people whose language you've learned, just reading websites or publications gives you a different view of how people in different cultures percieve their reality. The hardest part is that when you don't practice a learned language, it is easy to forget.
Reply:I'd always thought that you actually stop learning when you pass away... Study and enjoy what you learn to the fullest. Even if it seem you'll never use it.
Reply:I HATED learning French at school, but despite never leaving Ireland, met a French girl, settled down, had bilingual kids, and became fluent myself. I now LOVE speaking French, love the sublety of the language, so you just never know. To be able to express yourself in another language in a way that is not even possible in your own language is a magical thing!
Reply:no, because you never know when you can meet someone speaking that language. i don't meet very often English speaking ppl, but if i didn't known English, i wouldn't be able to answer questions or read Shakespeare, Faulkner in English. and Internet wouldn't be that interesting. not to speak of listening to The Pogues, B. Dylan or Red Hot Chili Peppers. last, but not least i wouldn't be able to travel all around the world without haveing to know e.g. Hungarian, Spanish...
Reply:Interesting. Well, when I study a language, it means I want to visit the country one day and learn about the culture first hand. Are you sure you'll never go to japan (this is one of my dreams, but I should first learn the language a little bit)?

Maybe one day you'll be able to go there, you know. Maybe you can find a program (through the internet) which would help you find "penpals" there. You write in both languages, and learn about the other culture. Maybe it will make you want to go there.
Reply:It helps you understand the English language more and how our words were derived. It also helps you to understand another culture other than your own and to expand your knowledge. It also shows that you have the ability to learn something you have never heard anything about before studying.
Reply:Learning another language is valuable. It will help your mind create links and help your understanding of world language, culture and history, just to name a few. To me, it's all like a huge puzzle. I find languages fascinating. Don't give it up. You obviously have the same passion, or else, you would have dropped it by now. Don't let this petty frustration get you down. You'll be over it soon. Kampai!
Reply:its not useless because you can meet a person from that origin later in life. like me i had that same problem when i was younger. i thought no one knew the language that i can speak ( i speak 2 languages) but when me and my dad went to a differnt state there was soooo many people that spoke that language. so it is good that you know more than one language.
Reply:knowledge is power.

How do you meet people, both in dating and just friendships?

I recently graduated from college and have realized that all the people I know, I know from classes and social groups within the college. Now that we have all gone our separate ways, it would be nice to have friends in the same town. Can anyone give me any advice on how to meet people? What have you done? I do work, but the people at work have made it clear that they do not socialize outside of the job with each other.

Church is a great place to meet people and make friends. My church has a College and Career class for men%26amp;women in their 20's.

Are cruises a good way to meet people?

im 14, and wanna go on the royal acrribean cruise or seomthing to meet kdis my own age?? any1 no if alot of kids my age go on cruises, my friends meet a lto of people on them but idk what cruise lines they went on...

Are cruises a good way to meet people?
There are several good cruise lines to choose from for you to meet kids. Disney is one but others also have programs for kids. Royal Caribbean has Kids programs called Adventure Ocean where they will have kids in the same age range participate in daily supervised activities in special areas on ships. On some ships the teens even have their own disco area. Carnival also has kids programs, called Camp Carnival for ages 2 to 11, and Circle C for ages 12 to 14, and Club 02 for 15 to 17 year olds. Princess has Youth and Teen programs for kids ages 3 to 17. Norwegian has Kids Crew programs for kids ages 2 to 17. So do not pick Disney because you think it is the only cruise line that has something for you.

I think that you will enjoy Royal Caribbean because in addition to the kids programs it has the rock climbing wall, a full sized basketball/volleyball court, some ships have a roller blade track and some an ice skating rink. The new Freedom and Liberty of the Seas ships have the flow rider which allows you to surf on a boogie board right on ship. You would meet a bunch of kids doing that.

You should tell your parents to plan to go to the Caribbean and go during the summer months when most kids will be out of school and on vacations. June would be a good time as its the very beginning of the hurricane season when there are generally few storms
Reply:the cruises do have a lot of youth programs for kids of all ages from around the world.

i would pick a cruise line that has the best youth program and go at the busiest time.

don't be sold a slow week, altough you will save money. you need a busy week to encounter lots of kids.

i do not know if kids are better at keeping in touch after the cruise. many adults meet a lot of friends , but the sad truth is that you leave best freinds but often do not see each other again. life just gets busy.

you might try looking at cruisecritics.com and see if under the roll calls or there might even be a section for younger cruises to hook up

good luck.
Reply:I traveled Norwegian Cruise Line. NCL has plenty of fascinating programs on the schedule with enthusiastic staff, so you'll never be bored, but relative to the total number of persons on the ship, the number of children was small. Many of the people aboard were traveling as couples, and senior citizens were in abundance as well. You'll have fun with the kids that you do meet, but I don't think you'll be meeting crowds upon crowds of 14-year-olds aboard ship.
Reply:No. Most cruises are with family. I am 27 and only go for cruises with family coz its rare to see single people wanting to be friends.. and the actual single ones are scary coz they encourage sex and its not good for young people. Just do other things instead. Cheers
Reply:yea its a great way to meet people your age im 16 and met so many cool people i went on royal carribean's mariner of the seas back in august and it was tons of funs lots a sports tournamnets in the age group u have your own hangout area and club and you meet tons of people

I encourage going in summer though
Reply:Yea. i'm 14 and just been on carnival pride about two weeks ago and i really made a lot of friends. It's a wonderful experience on board. There are so many activities taht you will never get bored!

In summer there will be more teenagers on cruise ships but.

Good luck and have fun!

Where can you meet people in a new town?

So I just moved to a job out of college, don't really know anyone in the town and I am not particularly religious. So how do you meet people in a new town without just hanging out at a bar.

Where can you meet people in a new town?
Go to Yahoo! personals.
Reply:Just go shopping for clothing, drink at starbucks, you can meet alot of people just around regular stores.
Reply:Just be a confident, friendly person. Take time to talk to people. You're not gonna bond with everyone you see, but it's a good start.
Reply:everyone has to buy groceries, so grocery stores are good places. sporting events are good. join a bowling league, there are thousands of things you could do. it doesn't always have to be at Church.
Reply:Try searching for "Professional" clubs or "Networking" clubs. They advertise themselves as social events designed as networking opportunities, but in reality eveyone there is looking to hookup.
Reply:I find a bowling alley, billiard room, or a recreation venue is good place. also, Museums or art expo's/exhibits are also good. But the best place is the local grocer or Laundromat
Reply:Anywhere but the computer dummy!
Reply:up your butt and around the corner
Reply:Hang out at the super market. Everybody has to eat.
Reply:As a guy, try laundromats, coffee shops, Your workplace, and anywhere else that there are people. You can also volunteer with some charity work, or part time in a hospital. Ask questions of people, as you meet them, or get their advice on a subject. It all works to start a friendship.
Reply:Bakery's are always popular
Reply:In all the same types of places you would meet people in an old town...
Reply:volunteer...

work...

walk around town and go to the park and see idle people and ask directions...haha
Reply:if you are into sports you can always join a running club or a bicycle club.

How do i meet people, im so lonely?

Live near the country and i have no job and no girlfriend. Its been so long since ive been with someone. I cant take it anymore. How and where do i meet people? My self esteem is gettin lower as time goes on

How do i meet people, im so lonely?
Get a job. Go to your city's out door events- such as the weekly Thursday Night Market Festival, for example.

Talk to someone who seems interested in conversing (or might be interested in conversing) at restuarants while waiting for a table, and at bus stops while waiting for a bus.

The possibilities must be endless, so just get out of your house, once and awhile. You could even go to a karaoke bar or some other kind of karaoke establishment. If the cashier at the market says you look familiar and wants to converse a little, do it.
Reply:well clam you just need to get out and about, find what social events are on near you, go to the local pub and start talking to people!

best of luck :-)
Reply:awww im really sorry you feel that way. maybe get involved go to a gym (if there's any near you), go to the libary, go to a club, just think to yourself, oh what the heck ill probably never see these people again and act like yourself. there's no point worrying about what they think, because if they dont like you, sod them at least you know you are a good person to get to know and they havent looked deep enough to find the real you. but im telling you, people arent out to get you, they actually want to hear what you want to say - its just probably a million times worse in your head.
Reply:How old are you? Are you living with family? We all get lonely

Have you been trying to get a job? A job will help. It is sad that there are so many lonely people out there and no doubt the internet will help.

I have a job where i meet Hundreds of people a week, What makes a good first impression?

How can I meet people if I move out west?

I live in NY now and will be graduating college next year. I want to go on for my MBA but I haven't decided if I want to stay and get it at my current school here, or go out west to get it, something I've always wanted to do...somewhere like Cali, Arizona, Colorado.

The weather would be beautiful and my mood would be raised greatly. However, I would be leaving all of my friends and family behind, and I'm worried about living alone out there. How would I meet people? Grad school probably isn't the best place. I'm kind of shy, too, so that doesn't help either. Any ideas?

How can I meet people if I move out west?
It would be great for you. You constantly meet people at gyms, out walking, on buses. It really doesn't take long to find friends. When you first arrive someplace new, you spend a lot of time seeing the local colour and by the time you settle into a routine, you find you all ready know people.

Where can I meet more Mormon people?

I am the only mormon at home and besides the missionaries and people in church that I only see on Sundays (note that I am the youngest and the oldest... there are the the primary kids and the YSA, they are 23 + and I'm 18), I don't have more LDS friends. Where can I meet more? any good online sites?

I am not going to institute yet.

Where can I meet more Mormon people?
In Salt Lake City, Utah
Reply:I can only suggest getting involved in YSA and institute. I loved the stake and multi stake activities as there are heaps of people to meet. I loved it myself (Now married happily!). Or maybe get involved with the youth? They may be closer in age if they are approaching 18.
Reply:YSA is where you should go...They have dances that some YSA maybe there around your age. If you go to college, look for if there are any Institute of Religion places near your college.

They are part of the Church Education System.

YSA meetings, Sunday Night devotionals.

Or find out if there is any Single Wards in your area.

Maybe not in your stake but a stake near by.
Reply:get in touch with your singles representative, find out when the socials are happening, if you don't have transport, the rep will take you
Reply:Why would you want to do that? Check out bornagainmormon.org and see what you find there. There are people your age over there.
Reply:Die and go to Heaven, there's probly a bunch up there lolololol roflcopterz!
Reply:Utah
Reply:Ask them to come to your house. They will never leave you alone for the rest of your life.
Reply:They can be anywear in the world so maybe that lowers it down LOL!!!
Reply:Aren't there any Stake dances and stuff like that anymore? Does the church host dances like they used to?

Otherwise head out to Balt'more (or is it Ballimore? I was corrected once), join the young republicans, and do some volunteer work for Romney. Really. You could meet a lot of lds in his camp and increase your circle of like-minded friends.

Now, don't say I never give out good advice.
Reply:www.internationaldiscussions.com, I'm on their also, plus www.mymormonspace.com. These are two good sites.
Reply:If you attend an LDS church and can't find any friends there, you may be out of luck, sorry to say. Maybe another LDS church can be found in a neighboring town? Can you find any on the net? Are you completely against attending other churches? I'm out of ideas. Sorry. Good luck and God bless.
Reply:Thanks Love Yahoo!! Wahhabi Princess, for your question. You have to tell us where you are so we can tell you where to go.
Reply:Does your stake do combined singles activities? I know there are a lot of single adult wards in New England, but I'm not sure where specifically. Institute is a great place to make friends, and so are the CES firesides. When I was in a singles ward in Florida, my stake had an FHE every Monday night for all the single adults in the stake. That was fun and I got to meet a lot of people! My YSA in Florida was 18 and up. I don't know if it's different there, but I bet you could meet a lot of people, even if they are a few years older than you.

Good luck! =)
Reply:That's because the mormon religion is dying out. Everyone says it's growing so much, but it's a huge lie. There are more people leaving the church than people joining. Besides, why do all your associates have to be mormon? Why don't you go find people of other religions? I'm sure they're just as friendly and nice as mormons.
Reply:I would suggest that you dont try to date mromons... no alchohal. that would suck.
Reply:Just stay at home and they will come to your door.
Reply:You can always convert people...or be friends with them no matter what they believe.

Liesel.
Reply:Salt lake city ,Utah. But resist the temptation
Reply:Go to Utah. It is loaded with them. Are their any Morman dating sites? I would think so. There are all kinds of dating and chatting sites. Ask at your LDS. I'm sure someone there will know.
Reply:my sister-in-law uses this site to find friends on-line. She's dating a guy from that now

How do we meet other motorcycle people without looking stupid?

We want to make some other motorcycle friends. Most of our friends got bikes after we did but we want to hang out with and some different people. How do we meet them, and become friends. Like wouldn't it be weird to (after talking with them a bit) just hand them our phone number and say something about riding together? I don't know any suggestions?

How do we meet other motorcycle people without looking stupid?
If you want to meet other bike riders just walk up and introduce yourself, comment on their ride, then strike a full conversation and see if you have anything else in common besides the bikes. If you do say hey why don't we hook up sometime and go on a short ride. If they agree then give them your number, if not don't feel bad cuase your not a loser, your just wanting to make new friends and no one can have to many friends.
Reply:Here in Milwaukee, we have this thing called two-wheeled Tuesdays. Buncha bikers gather in a parking lot and hang out. It's a restaurant parking lot. Anyway, if you could find a situation like that, you'd get a chance to meet and talk with lots of people. If you meet up with some you want to spend more time with, you could start by suggesting getting a cup of coffee.

Then you get to talk some more. Depending on how things go, you could certainly bring it up at that point. I mean, it's not like you're asking them to a spouse swap or something, right?

Perhaps you could say something like there's a really neat town you want to check out, or mention some specific destination. But mention it as a trip you already have planned. Then just casually mention that perhaps they'd like to ride along?

And yes, just talk about bikes. Point out something you like about theirs, or ask about something they've customized. Chances are, that'll be the opening they've been waiting for, and you'll be off and running.
Reply:The best way is to compliment their bike, once you get talking, the rest flows. Look around, go to poker-runs, rallies, whatever is going on. Join a group.

Stay out of the biker bars.

99% of the bikers are the best and nicest men and women you could ever want to meet.
Reply:Why not? Say that youre looking for riding buddies, people with similar bikes and riding experience.

Another thing you can do is post an ad. If you live here in America, post a personal on craigslist.org looking for other riding partners. You'll have plenty of people to choose from! If youre anywhere close to SF, California, hit me up!

You meet the nicest people riding motorcycles. Dont be afraid - we dont bite!
Reply:Join a riding club, such as the SCRC.
Reply:Almost every dealer has some kind of get together during the riding months. it might be an open house or the like. Read bulletin boards at the shops to look for rides. There is something going on every weekend. Join a local riding group this is pro bally the easiest.
Reply:Go to local rally's, or the Christian Brotherhood. Great people! Bikers are actually a pretty friendly bunch. By a Biker rag like American Iron, and they have a huge section about Rally's in your area. Also try poker runs, meet some great people and get a chance to win some money or cool prizes.
Reply:WELL TARA,

ME AND MY HUSBAND RIDE A HARLEY, WE HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO RIDE YET CAUSE THE WEATHER IN CHICAGO IS NOT THE BEST RIGHT NOW, BUT I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU MEAN, OUR PROBLEM IS WE LIVE IN THE CITY AND WE HAVE TO GO TO THE SUBURBS TO CATCH THE BIG WAVE OF BIKERS AND SEE IF ITS KOOL TO RIDE ALONGSIDE WITH THEM AND EVENTUALLY STOP SOMEWHERE AND CAST A CONVERSATION TO OPEN OURSELVES FOR FRIENDSHIP!
Reply:go to biker bars!
Reply:Just join one(or more) of the 1000's of Yahoo Motorcycle groups. Find one that suits your style or bike type or area of the country, then join and find others with similar interests in common with you. I run six Yahoo Motorcycle groups for various bikes and/or locations. I've met and made many friends because of Yahoo Groups. Try a couple.
Reply:1.Go to a motorcycle event,like a poker run.

2.Depending on what you ride or interests, you can look into a club in your aria

3.It's never too cold for Chi-Town riding.
Reply:Just hang out to biker clubs and bars. It will be easy to start a convo especially with the people who have the same bike with you.
Reply:Just be yourself. Act like you would if you met anyone else. People who ride motorcycles are people just like everyone else. We dont bite lol
