See when Gays meet people who are religious what goes through a Gays mind?

Honestly and truthfully please explain WHAT goes through your mind. I do not want to see "I respect them" or "nothing" - you know that religious people have stereotypes of Gays, what stereotypes do you conjure up when you meet a religious person.

See when Gays meet people who are religious what goes through a Gays mind?
Stereo type? Without knowing the person at all? Honestly I think nothing until they place judgment on me or treat me poorly, that's when I think...."Mindless sheep who are so afraid to just live life that they need a "reason" for everything that happens to them. And so afraid of dying that that have to believe that there is some wonderful place to go once they do die."
Reply:Honestly... that totally depends on circumstances. I usually meet a lot of gay Christians, so it's a non-issue.
Reply:It goes through my mind tht THEY R STUPIDS AND IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!But only for those who r against gays...not akll releigious persons are against gays!!
Reply:ohh great....another person who thinks im going to hell.
Reply:What "religious" type are we talking about?

From your tone I'm guessing you mean a virulent anti-gay type. In such cases, most of the time the only thing going through my mind is "smile, nod, back away slowly and get out of here." I have no time or interest in dealing with obnoxious and aggressive idiots.

But no - "religious people" in general do *not* have a uniform and negative steriotype of queer people. Some religious people do, and in particular the anti-gay movement in the US is spearheaded by a particular sub-sect of fundamentalist American protestantism. And the Vatican isn't too fond of us either, though there's a surprising amount of variation of opinion among individual Catholics.

But neither super-fundie American protestantism nor orthodox Roman Catholics are actually the definition of "religious people." They're very specific, distinct groups - there are a lot of others too, and not all are hostile towards us.

By both luck and conscious effort, the vast majority of spiritually devout people I've known have been among the most ardent and dedicated gay rights activists I've ever known. This includes biblical scholars, chaplains (Christian, Jewish, and Muslim), theologians, clergy, and lay people.

Many of these people were queer themselves. Others were straight, but saw working on behalf of the beauty and legitimacy of queer people, lives, relationships and spirituality as part of their larger calling to defend human dignity and value.

"Religious people" (or "religion" in general) are not our enemy. Specific individuals and groups are, and these people have unjustly and inaccurately attempted to portray themselves as the voice of God and the definition of what it means to be "religious/Christian." They have usurped an entire religion and attempted to reshape a vast and infinetly varied system entirely in their own image. They will fail, because all such attempts always fail. And despite their hysterical claims, we do in fact have many, many allies and friends within organized religion.
