Reply:I've never read For One More Day but The Five People You Meet In Heaven was great. What I learned from it was that you impact everyone you meet in some way or another whether you know it or not.
Reply:i think that "five people you meet in heaven" is a good book. and yes, it would be a good report to do. and the lesson you learn is that you are more important than you think and that each and every person you see, hear, accidentally brush against, ect, affects you and your life.
Reply:five people you meet in heaven is a really good book.
Reply:I've read The Five People You Meet In Heaven and it is a very good book. I've been meaning to read For One More Day too, I heard that is a good book too. And if you aren't sure for the book report, you can watch the movie first
Reply:I've never read "For One More Day", but I read "The Five People You Meet in Heaven" multiple times since 6th grade because it is simply beautiful. I'm sure you could read the whole book in a day because it's very short and easy, but boy oh boy will you cry! I love that book so much!
Reply:The Five People You Meet In Heaven is one of my all-time favorites, so of course I think everyone should read it. I think it would probably be great for a report, if you keep a couple of things in mind.
First, grade level is definitely an issue. The book is short and easy to read, but it is not for children. It has a little bit of language (one of the characters is of the tough military variety), and the subject matter is pretty heavy-duty stuff (the main character is involved in a war in which he accidentally kills some civilians). This is a major part of the book, so it can't just be glossed over. I, personally, feel that the book is perfect for high schoolers or, maybe, mature junior highers.
The second issue is that you are talking about a Christian school. Since I am a Christian, I feel that I must point out that the title of this book can be misleading to some. The depiction of heaven (or how you get there) is not accurate. This is not surprising, however, since I do not believe the book is meant to be a religious work. Mitch Albom is not trying to make a statement about heaven, God, or religion. The point of the book is to examine how each action in our lives affects others and how even the most (seemingly) unimportant person can make so much of a difference in the lives of those they come in contact with. It also contains an important lesson about forgiveness and redemption.
So, definitely, read the book. I don't think you'll regret it; it will touch your heart (the end made me cry). I believe, with a thorough explanation to the students that the book does not represent heaven or God in a realistic way, it could be a wonderful book report subject, as well.
Reply:I haven't read any of them but I will as soon as I can.
