Tonight I want to go out and meet new people. I am a pretty cool college student but I have zero friends... probably because I have never drank alcohol before.
I have a lot of self confidence and I'm not afraid to talk to new people. Where is a good place to get started?
Ideas where to meet people -- no drinking preferred?
Just because "everyone" else is drinking doesn't mean they really are. I went to plenty of frat and general campus parties where was able to have fun, dance and stay sober. There really are only a fistful of serious drinkers at these things and they are pretty easy to spot-grab a soda or Pelegrino and get going. There are also book shops and cafes as well as the Library and study groups. I joined a book club and it was great - leisure reading can save your brain from over study! Good Luck!
Reply:Museums, church, some colleges have meeting places other
than the student union, ice cream parlors etc
Reply:Anywere! Actully sit at a bus stop you like anyone you see have a conversation with them!
Reply:Your college should have a church social house on campus. There won't be any drinking there just people having fun. The university I attended had a Baptist Student Union and we did all kinds of fun stuff without alcohol. Of course the soriety I was in did enough drinking and partying for the entire campus

You set up a profile and you can search by zip codes.
Might meet some cool friends?
Reply:Jennifer, I've kinda faced the same problem. Although with me I'm recently divorced also. A good place to meet people is at your local church. Most churches have a college age group that goes out and does things. Your college may have a christian group also that does non-alcohol activities also
Good Luck!
Reply:I would look in the newspaper for local happenings. I think a nice contra dance or a place where you can hear music (a gathering for celebration). Cities differ from rural entertainment and have no clue what's offered to you.
