What's an easy way to meet new people my age?

serious question, I'm 18 and from Virginia. I have friends and a job and I just want some ideas to meet different people and to get different friends. I need someone to hang out with, and the friends I have now aren't there for me when I need them, (they're properly just using me) so I was wondering if you have any suggestions or ideas where I can go to meet and find new friends. Please don't be smart or sarcastic because I am upset right now and lonely and my homelife, my life in general, is making me depressed. I need to find friends that don't use me, and can just be there so I can have someone to talk to, but I just need some help on ideas in getting out there.

What's an easy way to meet new people my age?
Are you going to college? Because for many people disenchanted socially at your age, that's a great place to make more of a fresh start with your life. People are more mature, but while there are alot of jerks and judgemental folks, some of your friends there may be move valuable to you then your old friends from your home town.





If you can, go to college. It will not guarantee you a job, but it won't hurt you any.
Reply:The library has book clubs and stuff,or church,or even volunteer for a charity.Good always comes from this.Maybe a health club.
Reply:Okay, this might sound lame, but have you tried myspace? I would suggest that if you want to meet random people. But if you want to physically meet people, I would just go to where ever people in your hometown hang out (mall, park, etc.). I would also suggest getting involved in different clubs or college even. I joined the USAF myself and met so many different people, and im just 18.
